The City of Desloge Building Department reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts inspections in accordance with the city's building codes.  Permits are required for new building construction, construction of an addition, altering or changing the use of an existing building, fencing, pools, and for the construction of building systems like mechanical, electrical or plumbing.

The City of Desloge utilizes the following code for the control of buildings and structures:

The fee for the initial permit is governed by the City Code to cover the administrative costs of verifying setbacks, conformity to zoning regulations, lot coverage regulations, parking requirements, etc.  To apply for a building permit an applicant must complete a building permit application form, provide at least one copy of both the plat and plot plan (to be retained by the Building Inspector), and pay all applicable fees.

The following non-refundable fees shall be paid by the applicant at the time of application

Building Permits

New Construction or Addition
 $75.00 minimum

$.075 per square foot of total area
Footing $30.00
Foundation $30.00
Plumbing/Mechanical/Electrical $30.00
Final $30.00
Each re-inspection that may occur following the correction of violations found during the initial inspection shall be $50.00.

Remodeling Permits

$1,001 to $5,000 $50.00
$5,001 and up $50.00 plus $2.50 for each additional $1,000
Remodeling permits shall be issued for work that does not change the footprint of the structure.  If the footprint is altered, a building permit must be obtained.

Detached accessory building permit - 200 square feet or less $30.00
Fence Permit $20.00
Swimming Pool $20.00
Driveway Permit $50.00

Occupancy Permits

Sale of Property $50.00
Rental Property $30.00
First re-inspection of property is at no additional fee.  Additional re-inspections are $50.
Grading Permits $30.00
Blasting Permit $100.00 + Indemnity bond approved by the Mayor, with staff review.

Fees listed here are not an exhaustive list and are subject to change.

No license or permit provided for or required under any ordinance of the City shall be issued by any department of the City Government to any person, firm, association or corporation, until all personal taxes, merchants and manufacturers taxes, or other license fees, permit fees, inspection fees or any other financial obligations which are delinquent and owing to the City by the applicant have been paid.
